Apple will improve the quality of the iPhone display

Apple is negotiating the takeover of one of the divisions of the Japanese company Renesas Electronics, which is engaged in the production of chips for smartphones displays. About this portal reported Nikkei, citing its own sources familiar with the situation.

Chips from Renesas already used in the iPhone display to improve the sharpness of the image and to increase the battery life of the smartphone.

Unit, which has its eye on Apple, is called Renesas SP Drivers. Half of the company is owned directly Renesas Electronics, 25% owned by Sharp, and the remaining share is assigned to Powerchip. It is reported that only half of the “apple” corporation agrees to put about half a billion dollars.

Renesas SP is one of the leading manufacturers of chips for small and medium-sized displays worldwide. The company owns a third of the world market, and its products allows devices to reduce energy consumption to 10%.

Probably, Apple wants to bring the quality of displays their smartphones to a whole new level through closer collaboration with one of its suppliers. Rumored to be in Cupertino is going to close the deal by the summer of this year.
