The official application from VideoLAN, VLC player, after two years of pause again available in App Store. Developers have got the proper licenses Mozilla Public License Version 2 and the GNU General Public License Version 2. It is because of the lack of MPLv2 Apple has removed VLC from the App Store in 2011.
VLC 2.0 supports the same formats as the desktop version of VLC. Moreover, the new version added a variety of options for synchronizing content: directly via Wi-Fi, built-in integration with Dropbox, support for third-party applications to transfer content.
In addition to these innovations have also been added to the password lock function, support for SSA and closed captioning, support for AirPlay, background playback of audio and video filters, adjust playback speed, and more.
The new version of the player with open source has been added to the Australian and the New Zealand App Store, so should soon appear in other national stores.
