In hot regions of the planet, as a rule, it is impossible to farm. For one simple reason – too little moisture. The real trouble for areas where rainfall is rare.
However, there is a solution. He was found by specialists from Ethiopia – namely, from the University of Gondar. The project Roots Up they came up with an innovative greenhouse.
“Greenhouse” is extremely cheap, going from improvised materials and makes it possible to grow any crops (eg vegetables). The complex receives the necessary resources for irrigation by collecting dew.
Powered invention is simple. At night a special biopolymer film “captures” the atmospheric vapor and directs the tank. Furthermore, the design replenishes in the rain (if happens).
The authors argue that a daily platform delivers up to 200 liters. On the subsequent use of water for irrigation and drinking.
Skills for the construction of Roots Up is not required. Construction takes up to 5 days. Need a suitable container, rope and a stock of polycarbonate sheets.
The first functioning prototype test in June this year.
