NVIDIA GPU Kepler architecture adapted to mobile devices


It was learned that NVIDIA intends to adapt its flagship Kepler graphics architecture for mobile devices.

Thus, according to the chief executive officer of Sun-Jen Huang (Jen-Hsun Huang), NVIDIA graphics processors implement productive Kepler in Superfone. Work in this direction has already been actively conducted. During the event Siggraph 2013 the company has already showed a prototype of a mobile GPU Kepler, suitable for use in tablets. For this device claimed power consumption of 2 watts.

As the manufacturer, chip Kepler Mobile has 192 stream processors, and provides better performance than the graphics processor of the PlayStation 3, or enough of desktop graphics card 6-year-old GeForce 8800 GTX. In this case, the chip supports the latest graphics technology DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.4, enabling developers to create visually rich game projects. Company Epic Games has already demonstrated a processing engine Unreal Engine 4 on the new chip. Later GPU Kepler Mobile will be part of the new Tegra mobile processor generation, code named Logan. Producing ready devices based on it should begin in the first half of 2014.
