It was learned that researchers at Oxford University have managed to create special glasses that can help people regain their sight, lost due to various diseases.

According to research conducted by scientists, 75% of blind people retained the ability to perceive light. Created by scientists glasses looks no different from the usual points. However, in contrast to the ocular points for interacting with blind people to use them instead of lenses display OLED.

Placed in glasses sensors collect data about the environment with the help of two cameras, gyroscope, compass and satellite navigation receiver GPS, and then send them to the processor for further processing. Under the force sensors to determine the location and direction of motion of various objects. Processed processor information about objects located in front of the user, is displayed in the form of light beams of different color and intensity, which helps to know how far away the object is. The intensity of the radiation can also identify the object is moving or not.

In the configuration of points includes headphones and preinstalled software that converts text to speech, which will allow people to identify deprived of the right direction, learn to recognize the number of the bus and road signs.

The researchers note that the glasses are ideal for people who suffer from diseases such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Commercialization of the company is engaged in Assisted Vision, which promises to bring glasses to the market by the end of 2014.
