Canonical’s start a campaign to raise funds to build a smartphone with an open operating system Ubuntu. The device, called Ubuntu Edge, will be working on the same full version of the OS, which is used in personal computers and have the support of Android.

Advanced features include a quad-core processor, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB of memory for data storage, a 4.5-inch sapphire display resolution of 1280×720 pixels, 8 MP rear and 2 MP front camera.

The smartphone will have modules WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, as well as support for MHL. Ubuntu Edge should be on sale closer to May 2014, and Canonical has enlisted the help of operators such as Verizon, Deutsche Telecom, EE, SK Telecom, China Unicom.

The stated price of the device will be $ 830, but the people supported the project, Ubuntu Edge will cost $ 600.
