Smart Lock alllows you not to enter password when the screen is locked. This feature is available on all Android devices from version 5.0 Lollipop. Before we start to set up Smart Lock, you need to go to Settings > Security> Smart Lock. Here you have to enter PIN-code or password, then you can choose the different options of Smart Lock. Set up Trusted device

Android Go is Android One?

You could hear about Android One project from Google. A few years ago, the company launched the program that was intended for budget smartphones, like Moto G and others. However, over time, the platform has not found its users, and manufacturers continued to release budget smartphone on regular Android system.

Android Go has roughly the same intent as Android One. Google calls new system as simplified version of its original mobile operating system. It is like Windows 10 S for budget laptops.

Android Go system is intended for smartphones with 512 MB ( or 1 GB) of RAM. Moreover, Google says that phones with a little RAM will automatically download Android Go out of the box.

What about applications for Android Go?

All popular Google Play apps will be optimized to run on weaker hardware. One of the first apps for Android Go on Google Play is the lite version of YouTube Go.

It allows users to preview and choose the quality of the video, before it starts playing. One of the main features of YouTube Go is to download videos for offline viewing. The great feature is already available in YouTube Go app on Android Go smartphones.

What we do not know about Android Go

The aim of this project is the adaptation of Google Android 6.0 operating system to run on x86-based devices. This means that you can run Android operating system on laptops, netbooks, desktops, monoblocks and even Windows tablets.

The project exists for a long time before, thanks to it we could run earlier versions of Android Honeycomb, Android Ice Cream Sanwich, Android KitKat and Android Lollipop on PC.

And now you have the possibility to run the latest version Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your personal computer. The first release of Android-x86 is available for download on the official website of the project for computers with 32-bit and 64-bit x86 processors.

The current build supports computers with UEFI, graphics cards compatible with OpenGL ES 3.x from NVIDIA and AMD, and can provide valuable work of all equipment on your PC or laptop, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, touchpad, camera, Ethernet, etc.

How you can install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on PC.

– Download ISO file with the image of Live CD here;

– Download and install Linux Live USB Creator (LiLi) from linuxliveusb.com;

– Run LiLi and perform the following steps:

1. Select FAT32 in “Select USB”.
2. “ISO file” – select the downloaded file.
3. Tick “Allow LinuxLive USB on Windows” if you do not want to download and install LiLi on Virtualbox.
4. Push in paragraph 5 on a zipper and wait until the program will create a bootable USB.

Then you can run Android 6.0 Marshmallow from your PC (Do not forget to choose USB drive in BIOS), or if you made a CD with Virtualbox, you can try to run Android directly from Windows.

Most of the equipment, including WiFi, works fine, you can get access to the Internet and enter the Google Play Store.

Virtual reality

There are two main rumors about virtual reality projects related to Google.

The first one talks about a new virtual reality glasses that will compete with Samsung Gear VR. Google has already launched its affordable Cardboard glasses, but this year could launch a more serious device with lenses and improved sensors.

The second rumor says that Google intends to improve Android for virtual reality applications. Whatever it means, we expect that virtual reality will soon become part of our lives.

Chrome OS

Lenovo does not wait a long with the presentation of its first consumer product of Project Tango and announced its prototype in Las Vegas exhibition CES 2016. Smartphone has tablet phone display with a diagonal of 6.5 inches. It is equipped with 4-MP rear camera with angles of 180 degrees. The front camera with angles of 120 degrees has third camera with a low resolution of 180×320 pixels, which is necessary to determine a depth.

The commercial version of tablet phone almost certainly will have this set of cameras. But we expect that smartphone will receive a complete redesign, which will use it in a more familiar phablet portrait rather than landscape orientation.

During the presentation, the director of Project Tango demonstrated some possibilities of smartphone. First, he used the toolkit developers to render the scene, where the presentation took place.  Moreover, he placed virtual refrigerator in the corner of scene. All this action looks fantastic.

As for the tablet phone Lenovo, we expect that it will be released on the market next summer, and its price will be less than $500.

In addition, Google and Lenovo have launched an initiative that aims to support the development of interesting games and applications related to technology 3D-scanning of surrounding space.

Developers can submit applications until February 15, then Google will select the best ideas and provide them with funding and support to bring them to augmented reality. New applications for augmented reality will be available in the new smartphone.
